Kottayam: Catholicos Baselios Marthoma Mathews III said that the Orthodox Church is not willing to take part in any discussions in the church dispute. It is not ideal for religions to intervene in politics or vice versa, he opined in an interview with Mathrubhumi News.
The discussions on church dispute ended with the Supreme Court verdict. If the verdict is accepted, the issues can be resolved peacefully. Priests cannot be part of politics. Those who are interested in politics can quit priesthood, he said.
Talking about destruction of environment, Catholicos said that the mafias are destroying the nature and not the migrant farmers. The government should take strict action against them. He also called for environment conservation.
