Organised efforts kept Kerala’s COVID death rate under control: KK Shailaja
Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister KK Shailaja stated that organised efforts kept Kerala's coronavirus mortality rate under control despite a surge in the number of cases.
She said that a huge spike in the COVID cases was expected. However, the surge in reality was lower than what was expected and it was a relief. KK Shailaja urged the public to exercise caution in the fight against the pandemic.
In other states, along with the surge in cases, the death rate also increased. In Kerala, where lifestyle diseases are aplenty, there were high chances of death rate increasing. However, thanks to the combined efforts of the government, local self-government organisations and health department, the death rate was kept in check.
The Health Minister urged the public to support organised efforts against the pandemic. She added that although the people in Kerala are healthy in general, lifestyle diseases posed a major challenge.
