Order cancelling good service entry of Under Secretary revised following controversy

Thiruvananthapuram: The order cancelling the good service entry of Under Secretary O G Shalini, who handed over information related to Muttil tree felling issue as per RTI Act, has been corrected.

The order was issued by Revenue Principal Secretary Jayathilak. It was stated in the order that the principal secretary cancelled the good service entry of the official as he thinks she does not deserve the same.

However, criticism arose later that the order was issued in the name of the Governor and it should not specify the name of an official as the authority who takes the action. Following this, the new order was issued.

In the revised order, it is stated that the 'government' cancelled the good service entry of the official. However, organisations led by opposition parties have decided to continue their protest till Jayathilak is removed from his post.

RTI activist Pranakumar filed a complaint to the State Information Commission pointing out that the action taken against the Under Secretary is violation of the RTI Act. He also demanded action against the concerned.
