Orange, yellow alerts sounded in several districts in Kerala
Thiruvananthapuram: In view of the monsoon, orange and yellow alerts have been sounded in several districts in Kerala in the coming days.
The India Meteorological Department issued the alert. Based on this, an orange alert was sounded in Kollam and Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts on June 9. The orange alert has been sounded Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha and Ernakulam districts on June 10. These districts will experience heavy rains in isolated areas on the above mentioned days.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been sounded in Malappuram and Pathanamthitta districts on June 6, in Kozhikode on June 7, in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Ernakulam districts on June 8, in Thiruvananthapuram, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur and Malappuram districts on June 9, in Pathanamthitta, Idukki, Thrissur, Kozhikode and Wayanad districts on June 10.
These districts will experience heavy rains in isolated areas on the above mentioned days.
Following the alerts, the Kerala State Disaster Management Authority (KSDMA) has directed various government departments and officials to make arrangements and start control rooms at the Taluk level.
The KSDMA will issue directions to the public by tomorrow noon the precautions that must be taken after taking into consideration the possible changes in climate and the resulting changes in the weather forecast.
