The KSDMA has announced orange alerts in Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Idukki, Malappuram, Wayanad and Kannur districts on Tuesday. As these districts could witness isolated, heavy or very heavy rains in the next 24 hours, people must exercise caution, KSDMA said.
In a directive, which was shared on Facebook, the KSDMA also asked officials to take precautions and make necessary arrangements besides opening control rooms in taluk level.
Meanwhile, a yellow alert has been issued in five districts – Pathanamthitta, Thrissur, Palakkad, Kozhikode and Kasaragod.
People residing in areas affected during the floods in 2018, those staying in temporary shelters and those residing in areas with danger of landslides must prepare and keep ready all important documents and valuables in a quickly portable kit.
