Opposition shouldn’t have blocked Governor in Assembly, says Speaker
Thiruvananthapuram: The actions of the Opposition blocking the Governor, who came for delivering the policy address at the Assembly, was not acceptable, said Speaker P Sreeramakrishnan. It has not been decided yet to take action against the Opposition members, he added.
Speaker also said that he has obtained a complaint that the watch and ward personnel manhandled the Opposition. This complaint will be inspected. Watch and ward personnel were instructed to make way for Governor without any physical violence. Governor informed the Assembly on policies accepted by the Cabinet. No governor had changed this tradition and so did the present Governor, he further said.
Sreeramakrishnan also said that the resolution submitted by the Opposition is valid according to laws. A decision on allotting time for it will be taken in discussion with the advisory committee. This resolution would be considered only after the programmes decided by the government.
