Cheruthoni: Opposition leader VD Satheesan raised sharp criticism against Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan for not responding to the Mullaperiyar dam issue. He was inaugurating the one-day hunger strike observed by Idukki MP Dean Kuriakose over the Mullaperiyar issue here on Saturday.

"So far CM didn't respond over the matter. After granting permission to Tamil Nadu for cutting the trees in the vicinity of the baby dam, the case under the Supreme Court had vanished," alleged the opposition leader.

It was TK Jose, who heads the Water Resources department gave permission for felling the trees in Mullaperiyar. Bennichan Thomas was made a scapegoat in the issue.
