Thiruvananthapuram: Congress escalated protests against the Kerala budget presented by finance minister KN Balagopal for the financial year 2023-24. The ongoing protests mainly focus on the hike imposed on the petrol and diesel cesses in the budget. The demonstrations centred in collectorates have been intensified in Kochi, Kollam, Kozhikode, Kannur and Thrissur.
The opposition demands to reassess the decisions to impose fuel cess, which will foist extra burden upon the public.
Congress has sparked huge uproars both inside and outside the assembly. The opposition MLAs held a demonstration at the main gate of the legislative assembly. VD Satheesan condemned that the budget turned out to be a disaster following the flood and pandemic that hit the lives of common people.
