VD Satheesan
Thrissur: Opposition leader VD Satheesan on Saturday raised a sharp criticism against the state government and CPM for encouraging communalism in Kerala.
"Whatever Chief Minister preaches in his speeches contradicts his actions. CM is taking a stance on Bharat Jodo Yatra yet is silent against the BJP. There was widespread violence in the state during the hartal conducted by the Popular Front is reprehensible. The absence of the police led to violence on hartal day. The attitude and absence of police in controlling protesters led to violence. Surprisingly, the Chief Minister is not ready to oppose those who are involved in the violent hartal. His anti-communal stance is insincere," Satheesan said during a press conference in Thrissur.
Satheesan noted that PFI's activities are spreading communalism in Kerala. He added that PFI is another face of RSS. "The chaos caused by one group is the basis for the existence of the opposite group. That is why the party has decided to oppose minority and majority communalism. But, a debate is needed to ascertain whether PFI should be banned in the country," he added.
Satheesan also took a dig at CM by saying that the LDF government became offended when Bharat Jodo Yatra entered Thiruvananthapuram's Kaliyikkavila.
Meanwhile, Satheesan reiterated that Congress in the state has decided to back Rahul Gandhi to the office of party president.
