Operation P-Hunt: IT professionals nabbed for circulating child pornography

Thiruvananthapuram: 41 people were arrested for circulating child pornography in the state as part of Operation P-Hunt. Most of the accused are IT professionals. The phone of a police trainee from Pathanamthitta has been seized and sent for detailed inspection.

393 equipment that was used to share videos and images have been seized in the inspection that was carried out in 465 places. 339 cases have been registered. The inspection was carried out by 320 teams. More than twenty people who have been arrested are working in IT or related professions.

Kerala Police Countering Child Sexual Exploitation team stated that the misuse of internet has increased during the pandemic. The images of children, including from within the state, is being circulated. The evidence has been destroyed in most of the cases.

State police collected the details of more than 800 people, with the help of Interpol. Information on secret groups active in WhatsApp and Telegram have been gathered from National Centre for Missing and Exploited Children.

ADGP Manoj Abraham stated that the culprits will be nabbed irrespective of their technical abilities.
