Kozhikode: The relatives of a 60-year-old woman, who had undergone surgery at the National Hospital here have filed a complaint with the district medical officer and health minister alleging goof-up and medical negligence.

Kakkodi native Sajna had been undergoing treatment for the last eight months under Dr Bahirshan, ortho chief of the hospital. Her left leg got jammed in between the door and the treatment was for that.

The doctor had suggested surgery and it happened on Tuesday. However, the operation was done on the right leg. Later the doctor himself confessed it was a mistake, the relatives claimed.

Meanwhile, hospital authorities in an apparent damage control measure maintained that she had been suffering from Achilles tendon rupture and both legs had issues. The surgery on the left leg will be done in two weeks, the hospital administration added.
