Kannur: Industries Minister E P Jayarajan’s wife Indira has responded to the allegations that she visited the cooperative bank while undergoing COVID-19 quarantine. In a video message, she said that the news regarding this was baseless. The video was shared through the Facebook account of E P Jayarajan.
The minister’s wife was seen stating in the video that she went to the bank on Thursday to take the ornaments kept in the locker in order to gift it to her grandchildren. She also asked if presenting gifts to grandchildren was a crime.
“I was not undergoing quarantine and was about to go to Thiruvananthapuram the next day. I went to the bank to take the ornaments before that. Nobody asked me about the truth before publishing such news,” she said.
The opposition had alleged that E P Jayarajan’s wife urgently went to the cooperative bank locker fearing investigation regarding the gold smuggling case.
BJP leader K Surendran also had said that a share of the commission in the Life Mission scheme was given to E P Jayarajan’s son and the minister should make it clear what was withdrawn from the locker.
