Oommen Chandy snubs controversy over his treatment; brother asks CM to ensure better care

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst controversy over treatment of former chief minister Oommen Chandy, the leader himself came out on Sunday to state that the family and party have been providing him the best treatment. Oommen Chandy’s son Chandy Oommen shared a video of the veteran Congress leader on Facebook.

Oommen Chandy dismissed the allegations that his further treatments are getting delayed. He said that he wondered why such rumours are being spread.

Chandy Oommen had elaborated the treatment at Germany and Bengaluru. The laser surgery undertaken from Germany was followed by the treatment under Dr Vishal Rao in Bengaluru. He also informed that the family is getting ready to fly to Bengaluru for further treatment.

Meanwhile, Oommen Chandy’s brother Alex V Chandy handed over a letter to chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan seeking to ensure expert treatment to Oomen Chandy. His health is deteriorating and being the former CM, the state government has the responsibility to provide treatment for Oommen Chnady, the letter read. The letter countersigned by 41 others were also forwarded to the Minister for Health Veena George, and speaker AN Shamseer.
