Oommen Chandy lashes out at Solar report, govt
Thiruvananthapuram: Former Chief Minister Oommen Chandy on Thursday lashed out at the government and the solar commission report, which was tabled by the Kerala Government in the state assembly today.
Speaking to mediapersons in Thiruvananthapuram, Oommen Chandy alleged that the procedures initiated by the government in connection with the filing of the case after the solar commission report was made public, was not transparent.
"Even the concerned department were not aware of the matters. I do not have anxiety over any action. I have nothing to hide also. The report was made in four volumes (books). The commission has not signed in one book. Was this coincidence? Did any trickery happen in the report?," Chandy asked.
“The letter, which Saritha is said to have written from jail has been included in the report. The jail superintendent has given the receipt that Saritha had written a 21-page letter. However, the letter included in the report has 25 pages. The letter has been included two times in the report. Is this solar commission’s report or Saritha's report?” Chandy asked sarcastically.
Pointing out that he has been in the public sphere for the past 50 years, Chandy said that he will end his public life if there is one percent of truth in the allegations.
“The government had to go backward from its hasty moves. Neither I or the UDF fear any legal action. Saritha had conducted cheating during the LDF government’s tenure also. However, the case was registered by the UDF government. She was punished in some cases also. The complainant has raised allegations against police officials who investigated the case in the best possible way. The complaint has not told even one corruption allegation to the commission,” Chandy said.
