Only one bystander to be allowed at medical colleges in Kerala: Health Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Health Minister Veena George said on Tuesday that only one bystander would be allowed to stay with patients in ICUs and wards at government medical college hospitals in the state.

For patients who need more care, one more bystander would be allowed on the doctor’s recommendation with a special pass, the minister said in a press release after a high-level meeting.

A decision was taken to increase the security at medical colleges. The hospital visiting hours would be from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm. A police outpost would be set up at the Thiruvananthapuram medical college.

A special room would be set up at all medical colleges to address the concerns of the patients’ relatives. The phone number of all police officials at the aid post and security heads would be given to all employees.
