Only Karunakaran was denied justice in ISRO case
Kozhikode: Congress leader K. Muraleedharan said that the only person who was not served justice in ISRO espionage case was K. Karunakaran. He also said that he welcomes the Supreme Court verdict to grant Rs 50 lakh as compensation to Nambi Narayanan. All people under the shade of suspicion in those days have come out now.
Justice was served to Nambi Narayanan after a long delay. Another accused in the case Raman Srivastava is the advisor of the chief minister now. But it was K. Karunakaran who died without getting justice, he said.
When the three officers are interrogated as part of the judicial probe, the conspiracies will be revealed. It is not right to reveal the names before the probe begins.
It was Narasimha Rao who tried to compel Karunakaran to resign in connection with the espionage case.
The main reason behind it was the allegations raised against Narasimha Rao that he caused the loss of minority votes for Congress following the Babri Masjid issue. Also there were demands to replace him.
When the names to replace Rao was published in the media, K. Karunakaran was included in the list. Rao made two of the people in the list resign after trapping them in hawala cases.
Since he could not find any issue with Karunakaran, he trapped him in the espionage case. Though Narasimha Rao had said that Karunakaran need not resign in the beginning, later he demanded Karunakaran’s resignation.
Karunakaran was summoned to Delhi and was made to wait there without assigning him any position. Finally, he was given a low profile ministry in the cabinet, Muraleedharan said. He added that Narasimha Rao was cheating Karunakaran.
