Malappuram: District collector K Gopalakrishnan stated that only 40 people will be allowed in places of worship for Bakrid festival. Those who have received both doses of Covid vaccine and those who obtained Covid negative certificate can enter the worship centres, the collector made it clear.

The people arriving at the religious places should be made aware of the Covid protocols. Action will be taken against those who spread misinformation on this, he said.

Only very few people can attend the rituals related to Bakrid and they must be vaccinated or carry a Covid negative certificate. The concerned authorities should make arrangements for distributing the meat which is part of the rituals, via parcel.

Visiting the houses of relatives and friends in connection with the celebrations should be avoided. Those aged below 10 years and above 60 years and those who have comorbidities are directed not to go out unnecessarily.

Crowding should be avoided in shops and social distancing should be maintained while purchasing. The shopkeepers should arrange facilities for sanitising. All are directed to strictly follow the Covid protocols, district collector said.
