Kozhikode: One more patient under observation in Kozhikode has turned Nipah positive. As per the information from the state health minister’s office, the 39-year-old is likely to have contracted the virus from a private hospital from where the earlier Nipah patients had sought treatment.
Meanwhile, the Kozhikode district continued to remain under strict surveillance. The 11 samples that had been sent for testing on Wednesday turned negative. Samples of another thirty persons included in the contact list of the Nipah patients have been sent for testing on Thursday, the results are awaited.
Masks have been made mandatory in Kozhikode district. The updated contact list of the Nipah patients now encompasses 950 individuals in total. The route map of the health worker who had turned Nipah positive on Wednesday was already published. The above mentioned patient is currently under isolation in a private hospital. 14 persons who had shared living space with the suspect in Chevarambalam are under observation. Four of them have been shifted to Kozhikode medical college.
In the context of rising cases, isolation wards have been set up in private hospitals in Kozhikode district. Minister Mohammed Riyas informed that an elaborate meeting will be held to analyse the situation. The medical team from the centre had rated the arrangements in place as satisfactory after evaluation.
