One more COVID death in Kerala takes toll to 7; Thiruvalla native, a diabetic, dies
Kottayam: One more death due to COVID-19 has been reported in the state. The deceased is identified as Pathanamthitta Thiruvalla native Joshy (65). He was being treated in Kottayam medical college after being affected with COVID-19. He succumbed to the disease on Friday by 2 am. He was suffering from severe diabetes.
Joshy returned from Abu Dhabi on May 11. As he showed symptoms during the quarantine period, Joshy was admitted in Pathanamthitta district hospital on May 18. Later, he was shifted to Kottayam medical college on May 27 for expert care.
Joshy was suffering from diabetes, obesity and other physical ailments related to diabetes. The doctors came to know about the severity of the diabetes only after treating him. As per reports, his relatives also were not aware that he was diabetic.
Following this, a group of doctors attended on him. However, his condition worsened by Thursday midnight and he was shifted to ventilator. He succumbed to the disease on Friday by 2 am. His relatives have come to Kottayam medical college. The body will be buried on Friday itself adhering to the COVID protocol.
