One more COVID-19 death in Kerala; Mahe native dies

Kannur: A Mahe native died of coronavirus infection here. Cherukallayi native Maharoof (71) died on Saturday morning. He was under treatment at Pariyaram medical college.

Maharoof, a heart patient, was also suffering from kidney disease.

It is still to be ascertained how he contracted COVID-19.

On March 26, he had sought treatment at Tely hospital in Thalassery for fever.

On March 31, he was admitted at the same hospital after suffering from severe respiratory illness. As his condition worsened, he was shifted to MIMS hospital by evening.

Maharoof was confirmed with COVID-19 then and was shifted to Pariyaram medical college hospital.

According to reports, he had contact with a large number of people and had attended some functions including a marriage and bride seeing ceremony along with his son. He had also attended prayers at mosque.

Maharoof also had travelled widely in New Mahe, Panniyannur and Chokli panchayats.
