One Country, One Ration Card: 140 transactions completed in 3 days

Even though Keralites are yet to get the ration from other states under this system, two card holders from Karnataka came to Kerala to avail their ration.

Alappuzha: Within three days of the implementation of the ‘One Country, One Ration Card’ scheme, 140 transactions have been made in the country. 136 card holders from states such as Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Maharastra, Rajasthan, Telangana brought their ration from other states.

No person belonging to the states such as Kerala, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Madhya Pradesh have availed their ration from other states. As per the new scheme, the ration card holders can get their ration from any of the states that is mentioned in the list, in which 12 states are clubbed together. The scheme helps people working in other states to procure their ration easily.

Around four crore card holders can avail the facility from these 12 states.

Even though Keralites are yet to get the ration from other states under this system, two card holders from Karnataka came to Kerala to avail their ration. On January 1, Mallikarjunappa was the first to get the ration. Later, TD Prakasan also got his ration from Kerala.
