Kochi: The CCTV cameras of the IndiGo 6E 7407 flight in which the Youth Congress workers staged a protest against chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan were non functional, the company informed the high court.

The court was informed about this when it asked about the CCTV visuals while considering the bail plea of the accused, Mattannur native Farseen Majid (27) and Pattanur native RK Naveen (37). The court was also considering the anticipatory bail plea of the third accused Sunit Narayanan. The two have been charged with attempt to murder and several other sections of IPC as well as aviation laws.

The accused argued that they did not attack the chief minister, instead raised slogans such as 'Youth Congress Zindabad'. They also alleged that they were gravely injured in the 'attack' of EP Jayarajan.

The sloganeering did not obstruct anyone's official duty or pose threat to the safety of the aeroplane. The security officer's statement also confirms that no official duty was blocked by the protestors, they claimed.

Meanwhile, TA Shaji, Director General of the Prosecution, argued that the protest was pre-planned.

The Youth Coungress workers onboard a flight from Kannur to Thiruvananthapuram protested against CM Pinarayi on June 13. IndiGo had earlier told the police that the protestors moved towards CM when he was onboard and EP Jayarajan pushed them away.
