Govt employees to get Rs 4,000 as Onam bonus

Thiruvananthapuram: The government has decided to grant Rs 4,000 as bonus for all government employees including teachers in connection with the Onam festival, informed finance minister K N Balagopal.

Those government employees, who are not entitled for the bonus, would get Rs 2,750 as special festival allowance.

All government employees will get Rs 20,000 as advance. The advance for other part-time and contingent employees is Rs 6,000.

Rs 1,000 will be given as festival allowance for service pensioners and employees who retired as per the contributory pension scheme.

Festival allowance will be granted to all employees, including the workers who got festival allowance last year, for the same rate this year. The special fund will benefit nearly 13 lakh people employed in the government sector.
