Thiruvananthapuram: The woman who missed the lucky Onam bumper ticket of Rs 25 cr has bagged the consolation prize of Rs 5 lakh for her ticket. Ranjitha V Nair, a lab technician at SP Fort hospital, won the prize for the ticket she took for the first time in her life.
Ranjitha was in the limelight after Mathrubhumi aired the visuals of Pazhavangadi Bhagavathy Lottery agency. In the visuals, Ranjitha's hands were spotted touching the first prize lottery ticket but decided to buy another ticket.
The ticket carrying the number TJ 750605 hit the jackpot of Rs 25 cr. Ranjitha took the ticket in the TG series with the same number as the first prize winning the lottery.
"The ticket number was by heart for me from the day I took it. Though luck slipped closely from my hand, I was sure that I will win the consolation prize," said Ranjitha.
On Monday, she surrendered the lottery at Lottery Directorate. Out of Rs 5 lakh, she will get Rs 3,15,000 after deducting taxes and other charges.
Ranjitha's husband B Vinu is a plumber. The couple have a daughter Malavika who is a student.
