Kozhikode: With computers and smart phones becoming more prevalent today, even older generation people have slowly drifted away from the practise of writing by hand. However, sister Rosette, who is an administrator at LISSAH College, finds joy in writing in this. She declared her love by copying the entire volume of English Bible using her hands.
She started copying the Bible on September 8, 2018 and it was completed in October 2019. It took 387 days for Sister Rosette to write the entire Bible using her hands. There are 1060 chapters in the old testament and 237 chapters in the new testament. The Old Testament was covered in 2240 pages and the New Testament in 654 pages. Although a lot of people have written the New Testament in similar ways, Rosette is one the of the few people to copy the both the Old and the New Testament.
“For a long time, I have had the inner call to copy the Bible. It was then that I received a notice from Ernakulam POC to copy and write the Bible. I took up the duty as I was convinced that it was the best way I could express my love towards god,” Sister said.
“The significance of handwriting will remain forever as brain can be stimulated more while writing with our hands. That is why children are made to write on rice and on tender coconut leaf” Professor Varghese Mathew, Principal of LISSAH college opined.
Sister Rosette is a native of Ettumanoor in Kottayam. A member of Missionary sisters of Queen of Aposlet, she has worked in Saint Ignatius Hospital, Fathers Mullers Hospital, Bangalore Saint John’s Medical College, among others.
