On this Women’s Day, women to administer police stations, to operate Venad Express
Thiruvananthapuram: Celebrating International Women’s Day on March 8, women employees will take over the complete charge of police stations and trains in the state. Venad Express which departs at 10.15 am from Ernakulam will be completely controlled by women employees on Sunday.
“I would like to congratulate Southern Railway for allowing women to operate train for an entire day by creating a milestone in the history of Kerala,” said minister KK Shailaja.
At the same time, female officials will undertake the duty of station house officer in most of the police stations in the state. Women commandos will be on duty in pilot vehicles of Chief Minister. Women commandos will be deployed at Cliff house and women police guards will be on duty at the Secretariat north block where Chief Minister’s office is situated.
On Sunday, Venad express will be completely under the control of women. Female staff will be the loco pilot, assistant loco pilot, pointswoman, gate keeper and track women. Other railway departments like ticket booking centre, information centre, signal, carriage and wagon will also be administered by women.
Women RPF officials will be in charge of the security arrangements. Railway will arrange a warm reception for these officials.
TP Gorothi (loco pilot), Vidya Das (assistant loco pilot), M Sheeja (guard), Geetha Kumari (TTE), Divya (platform SM), Neethu (cabin SM), Praseeda (pointswoman), Rajani, Sindhu Viswanathan (mechanical staff), VR Veena, AK Jayalakshmi, Surya Kamalasanan, TK Vineetha, Salini Raju and Archana will operate the train on Women’s Day.
Police stations which have female staff in the rank of inspector and sub inspector will be in charge of their station. Police station with the service of more than one-woman SI are directed to deploy additional women SI to the nearby stations on Women’s Day. Police stations without necessary female officials will be administrated by women in civil police officer rank. DGP has issued necessary guidelines in this regard to all district police chiefs.
