Anwar himself appeared on a Facebook page and made it clear that he was in Africa when complaints surfaced that the MLA was missing from the constituency just before the 2021 Assembly elections.

Malappuram: Nilambur MLA PV Anwar did not include the details of his wealth in Africa in the nomination papers submitted for the assembly polls, said reports. Failure in disclosing such information is an offence that can lead to six months in prison under Section 125A, if convicted.

Anwar appeared on his Facebook page and made it clear that he was in Africa when complaints surfaced that the MLA was missing from the constituency just before the 2021 assembly elections.

Anwar has already admitted that he visited Africa to earn livelihood and has investments there. But the 66-page nomination papers do not carry any information about this.

Legal experts say Anwar has committed a serious offence and the election commission should take further action. When Anwar himself says he has investments in Africa, he himself has to explain why it was not included in the documents.
