Thiruvananthapuram: BJP MLA O Rajagopal opposed the resolution presented in the assembly against the farm laws implemented by the central government.
The farm laws were introduced to provide protection to farmers and the issues regarding the same will be resolved through talks, he said during the discussion on the resolution.
The central government implemented the laws that helps farmers sell their products anywhere without any middlemen or commission agents in the sector. Those who oppose these laws are against the interest of the farmers, Rajagopal said.
Congress had stated in their election manifesto about implementing the same law. The CPM also demanded the same. The prime minister was willing to hold discussion with the farmers. However, it was not conducted as the farmers put forward conditions, Rajagopal said.
