Nurses' strike at Kannur Koyili hospital ends after discussion with management


The nurses used to buy COVID-19 safety equipment including masks, gloves and sanitizers at their own expense. They demanded that the management should supply safety equipment.

Kannur: The strike conducted by about 60 nurses in Kannur Koyili Hospital on International Nurses Day demanding to ensure basic facilities and to end forced leave was concluded following discussions with the hospital management.

The nurses started the protest raising three demands. They wanted the management to ensure basic facilities. The nurses used to buy COVID-19 safety equipment including masks, gloves and sanitizers at their own expense. They demanded that the management should supply safety equipment.

The nurses also demanded the management should stop imposing forced leave claiming that only limited number of patients are admitted. Another demand was providing transportation facility amid lockdown.

After the management held a discussion, the nurses later ended the strike.
