Nun abuse case: Probe team leaves for Jalandhar to quiz Bishop Mulakkal
Kochi: The investigation into the alleged rape of a nun by Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal is in a crucial point as the probe team has left for Jalandhar to conduct further probe.
The probe team is likely to question Jalandhar bishop within two days.
On Friday, the probe team led by Vaikkom DySP left for Delhi from Nedumbassery airpot. They will move to Jalandhar from Delhi. There are six officials in the team.
Sources revealed that the probe team will record the statement of the woman and her husband who filed complaint against the nun in Delhi. The woman complained that the nun was in a relationship with her husband. The probe team will interrogate the couple in order to find the truth behind the complaint.
It is hinted that the officials will interrogate Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) president Oswald Gracius. The nun who raised rape charges against the bishop has asserted that she has forwarded a complaint to CBCI president. Apart from this, the probe team will also record the statement of Ujjain bishop.
The team will move to Jalandhar after the series of interrogations at Delhi. Earlier, the officials have recorded the statement of many people including Mar George Alencherry.
However, some nuns, who were the inmates in the complainant’s convent, are staying at Delhi. Some of them had left the nunnery. It is learnt that the probe team will record their statements also.
