Nun abuse case: Arrest likely to happen after interrogation
Kottayam: The arrest of Jalandhar bishop Franco Mulakkal in the nun abuse case is likely to take place after the second round of interrogation. The arrest will be based on the evidences and statements collected against the bishop. The evidences and statements that proves the visit of the bishop to the convent becomes significant in the case. The contradictions spotted in the statements of the nun were resolved, said the police.
The bishop’s driver also gave a statement against Franco saying that he had driven him to the Kuravilangad convent on the alleged day of abuse. This was mentioned by the aggrieved nun in her petition. Other statements also matched the evidences.
The nun gave proper explanation to the question how she participated in an event the next day along with the bishop after the assault, said police.
The laptop and mobile of the bishop and the external hard disc of the nun are now in the custody of police.
The police have sent a legal notice to the bishop summoning to appear before the probe team on September 19 for interrogation.
