Thiruvananthapuram: An NRI youth who reached Thiruvananthapuram airport was allegedly kidnapped and robbed by his girlfriend and brother.
Muhyiddin Abdul Khader, a Tamil Nadu native, alleged that the accused took his money and gold after detaining him at a resort in Chirayinkeezhu.
Based on his complaint, Shanghumugham police arrested six people, including his girlfriend, Insha, named as the first accused in the case.
The incident related to the case happened on February 22, 2023. Abdul Khader was abducted by the accused while leaving the Thiruvananthapuram airport.
Abdul Qader and Insha lived together in the Gulf. The accused told the police they abducted Abdul Qatar for severing ties with Insha.
Later, Insha and her brother demanded Rs 1 crore as compensation to end the relationship. When he refused to comply with their demands, they devised a plan to abduct him.
The young man was held captive at the resort for two days. Meanwhile, the complainant alleged that the gang took Rs 15.70 lakh, gold and two mobile phones from him. Further, he was forced to sign some stamp papers.
Following this, he was taken back to the vicinity of the airport and was set free. After this, the young man went to the police station and lodged a complaint. He also alleged that the gang assaulted him.
