Kochi: The women who reached Kochi with the aim of visiting Sabarimala temple said that they are not interested in creating problems. Speaking to media at the Ernakulam press club, they informed their stance that they are ready to wait to trek the hill shrine.
Three women including Kannur native Reshma Nishanth convened the press meet. They demanded the permission to visit Sabarimala temple.
“We are not interested in darshan by turning Sabarimala into a war zone. We would like to have darshan with the support of devotees. We are not here to go till Pampa and return like earlier incidents. We wish to go to the temple with police protection and devotees’ support,” they said.
At the same time, a protest was staged outside the press club by protestors including BJP Mahila Morcha activists and Sabarimala Karma Samithi activists against women. Some groups in support of the women were also seen near here.
They were later taken from the press club in police protection.
