Northeast monsoon to hit Kerala on Wednesday
Thiruvananthapuram: The northeast monsoon will reach Kerala on Wednesday. The meteorological department informed that heavy rain is likely in some places from Tuesday onwards as a result of cyclonic circulations.
Normally, northeast monsoon commences after October 15. However, as the southwest monsoon retreated after a delay, it also affected the arrival of northeast monsoon.
As soon as the southwest monsoon retreats on October 28, northeast monsoon will reach Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.
A yellow alert has been sounded in Pathanamthitta and Idukki on October 27, in Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Idukki on October 28 and in Ernakulam and Idukki on October 29.
