Northeast monsoon intensifies; Yellow alert in all districts on Saturday
Thiruvananthapuram: The meteorological centre has predicted isolated heavy rain in the state as northeast monsoon intensified. A yellow alert has been issued in all districts on Saturday. The Disaster Management Authority warned that the district control rooms should continuously assess the situations from all taluks.
Yellow alert in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Idukki and Wayanad districts will exist till October 22. Yellow alert in Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode and Kannur will continue till Sunday only.
Lightning strike is likely from 2 in the afternoon to 10 at night. Gusty wind at a speed of 45-55 kmph is predicted in the middle east Arabian sea close to north Kerala, Lakshadweep and Karnataka coast.
The wind speed is likely to reach upto 65 kmph. Gusty wind at the same speed is also likely in the Karnataka coast on Sunday. The fishermen are warned not to venture into the sea on these days.
