Kochi: Noose is tightening around PhD scholar and former SFI leader K Vidya, who stands accused of forging documents to secure post of guest lecturer, as a preliminary probe carried out by the Kochi city police found that the signature and seal on the certificate produced by her, for guest lecturer appointment in Attappady Government College, were fake.
As per reports, a seal similar to that of the college’s seal has been used on the certificate. The police suspect that the seal was made somewhere outside. Also, the vice principal’s signature on the certificate appears to be fake. It is learnt that the vice principal has informed the police against signing the certificate.
The certificate carries the signature and seal of former college vice principal VK Jayamol. The experience certificates sent from Attappady were also examined by the police. However, Kochi police is of the view that clarity on the matter can be obtained only after the probe by Agali police is completed.
Furthermore, suspicion remains over whether a scholarship document, previously received by Vidya from the college, was altered and used in the certificate. However, the police have not yet confirmed the matter.
A case in the regard registered by the Kochi city central police was transferred to Agali station on Thursday due to lack of enough documents and evidence. The Agali police will also decide on interrogating Vidya, who is reportedly in Kasaragod.
Meanwhile, another case has been registered against Vidya by Nileshwar police as per a forgery complaint lodged by Karinthalam College authorities. The case is based on the charges of forgery, fraud and conspiracy.
