Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Civil Supplies Department has decided an additional 10 kg rice in the month of May at the rate of Rs 15 per kilogram in addition to the regular ration share for Non-priority (subsidy) Blue ration card holders and Non-priority (non-subsidy) White ration card holders.
For NPS - Blue card holders, each member in the card is entitled to 2 kg rice at Rs 4/kg. For NPNS – White card holders can buy 2 kg rice per card at Rs 10.90/kg. This regular ration share for the month should be bought before May 20.
Antyodaya (AAY) category Yellow ration card holders will get 30 kg rice and 5 kg wheat free of cost. Priority Households (PHH) category or Pink card holders will get 4 kg rice and 1 kg wheat at Rs 2/kg per person. This would comprise 1 kg boiled rice, 2.5 kg raw rice and 500 grams ‘Matta’ rice.
For Yellow card holders, different varieties of rice will be given based on availability.
Also, White and Blue card holders will be provided 1 to 3 kg of atta based on availability at Rs 17/kg. Yellow and Pink card holders will be given 1 kg chickpea free of cost.
Free kit distribution
The free food kit distribution for Blue cards began on Friday. In order to avoid rush, a system based on the last digit of the card number has been put in place. Those card numbers ending with 1 can collect the kit on May 9, those with card number ending with 2 and 3 can collect the same on May 11 and on May 12 cards ending with 4, 5. On May 13 those with card numbers ending with 6 and 7 can collect the kit while those with card numbers ending with 8 and 9 can collect it on May 14.
The kit distribution date for white card holders has not been decided yet.
