Malappuram: Ponnani MP ET Muhammed Basheer expressed his dissatisfaction with the exclusion of Tirur railway station from the stops of the Thiruvananathapuram-Kasaragod Vande Bharat train. Basheer termed it a "gross injustice" to the district. He said he would mobilise the masses stage strong protests.

He said he got a hint of neglect when the train did not stop at Tirur in the second test run of the train. He contacted union railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and wrote a letter demanding the stop.

The train does not stop in Malappuram and Alappuzha districts. Tirur and Chengannur were the probable stations in these two districts. Though initially neglected, the train will stop at Shoranur station in Palakkad district when Southern Railway released the details on Saturday evening.
