Palakkad: The Motor Vehicle Department (MVD) has cancelled the fitness certificate of five buses, including two KSRTC buses, for operating services without a speed governor. The fitness certificate was revoked following an inspection by the MVD at Kozhinjampara here on Tuesday.
MVD carried out the inspection as a part of Operation Focus 3. During the inspection, speed governors were found missing in two KSRTC and three private buses.
Two KSRTC buses which were operating services from Thrissur to Coimbatore and Palakkad to Pollachi faced the action during the trip. The passengers have also demanded action against the bus officials who violated the motor vehicle rules.
Following the inspection, the MVD officials had directed to arrange bus facilities for the passengers. But, the KSRTC bus en route to Pollachi left for Palakkad depot after leaving the passengers on road. The stranded passengers had to opt for other buses to reach their destinations.
