Thiruvananthapuram: The employees of health department, who were to retire on March 31, is likely to be given extension in service in the wake of coronavirus pandemic. However, employees of other departments will retire on Tuesday, even if they are not present in office and hand over the duties. Government has decided to consider them as retired.
Meanwhile, a decision has been arrived that health department employees will be allowed to continue in service, without extending the retirement age, until a new order is issued.
This would help all employees working in health department and health education department.
As the age for retirement of doctors had hiked to 60, they were not to retire on Tuesday. Though new doctors were appointed, in the wake of coronavirus outbreak, no other medical staff were appointed. Hence it was decided to let the experienced nurses and other staff to continue in the backdrop of pandemic.
