Kochi: CPM state secretary MV Govindan here on Saturday said that no party probe will be launched against LDF convener EP Jayarajan in connection with the resort controversy in Kannur.
Terming the controversy as “media fabricated”, Govindan said, “The party cannot be swayed by media narrative. There will be no party-level probe on the issue.”
Meanwhile, EP Jayarajan on Friday had explained the resort-linked allegations at the CPM state committee meeting.
According to Jayarajan, the allegations were a conscious move to destroy him and were aimed at personal attacks. The leader made the remarks without naming P Jayarajan, CPM state committee member.
“I am not a person who amassed wealth without the knowledge of the party. My wife and son have investments in the Ayurvedic resort in Kannur. The money from my wife’s retirement pension and son’s income were given to the company,” he said.
“It needs to be examined who is behind these attempts to defame me. I do not have any opposition in the party probing the matter,” he added.
Meanwhile, the CPM leaders, who heard Jayarajan’s explanation, did not take any further action on the probe. The decision in the regard is likely to be taken by the state secretariat.
Reportedly, EP Jayarajan is accused of illegally acquiring property and building a huge resort and Ayurvedic establishment in Kannur. The allegations came in limelight after P Jayarajan alleged that the CPM convener and his family had amassed huge wealth.
However, P Jayarajan later maintained that he was not aware of the matter. It was alleged that when he made the accusation earlier, some changes were made in the company, including in the director board.
EP Jayarajan’s wife and son are on the director board. Property worth Rs 30 crore was acquired to build the resort and Ayurvedic village, the allegations said.
