No personal relationship with Pinarayi Vijayan, Swapna Suresh tells ED
Kochi: Swapna Suresh, the key accused in the gold smuggling case, has refuted the rumours on having a close relationship with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
In her statement to the Enforcement Directorate, Swapna revealed that the CM had contacted her from Sivasankar’s phone to express condolences over her father’s demise.
During the interrogation, ED officials asked Swapna about her relationship with the Chief Minister. Responding to this, Swapna revealed about receiving a phone call from the CM when her father passed away. Mathrubhumi News has published a copy of her statement on Tuesday.
“Only once, I had met the CM in the absence of the consulate general. We had a meeting related to hosting a reception for the Emir of Sharjah. We only had official meetings. I had accompanied the UAE consulate general for the meeting with Kerala CM,” explained Swapna.
"In 2018, we had a meeting for a programme in connection with Sharjah sultan’s visit. During that time, the UAE consulate deputed me to hold talks with the CM regarding the reception for the sultan. Based on this, I visited the CM," said Swapna.
Meanwhile, Swapna told ED that the Chief Minister was unaware of the gold smuggling. Her statement also confirmed that she only had an official relationship with Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
