Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI (M) is not ready for a compromise with other allies as Kerala Congress Jose faction joined LDF. The CPI (M) is of the stance that all allies must make sacrifices to strengthen the front.
There will be no decision now on relinquishing the Pala seat or handing over the Rajya Sabha seat, which will be vacated by Jose K. Mani, to NCP.
The CPI (M) calculates that by adding Kerala Congress to its list of allies, the LDF wants to make gains in central Kerala and remain in power for another term. This is not an internal matter of CPI (M) alone. hence, all the allies will have to make compromises for the greater good of the front, the CPI (M) leaders pointed out.
At present, the LDF will not discuss the Assembly election or the number of seats granted to its allies. The CPI (M) will likely take a stand that such discussions can be held after the panchayat elections. Its aim is to trust CPI and control the discussions within the front. They feel that further discussions over Assembly seats will create more problems.
Some of the constituencies, which Jose faction claims to be their stronghold, are contested by CPI (M) and they have won in a few of them. As such, the CPI (M) wants an exchange of seats based on winning probability.
Offer Kerala Congress the seats in which they can win, but ensure it is done with a collective understanding. This is likely to be CPI (M)’s stance in future discussions.
