Thiruvananthapuram: The CPM state secretariat on Friday decided not to probe the allegations of financial irregularities levelled against its top leader EP Jayarajan. The decision came after hearing Jayarajan's explanation on the matter.
It is learnt that EP told the committee that he has no investment in the resort and whatever his wife or son have are ot illegal. The party was not informed about the investments as they were not party members, he said.
P Jayarajan, former Kannur district secretary, had reportedly alleged in a committee meeting that the LDF convener had accumulated disproportionate assets through an Ayurvedic resort in Kannur.
EP Jayarajan or chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan had not commented in public on the charges. P Jayarajan denied making any such allegations when the media quizzed him.
According to the allegation, EP Jayarajan’s wife, PK Indira, and his son are on the board of directors of the resort. Property worth Rs 30 crore was acquired to build the resort and an Ayurvedic village. Despite making accusations during the meeting, P Jayarajan has not yet filed a written complaint with the party.
While leaving the secretariat meeting on Friday, EP Jayarajan wished a happy new year to all.
