Sastamkotta: Even after expert therapy at Kottur Elephant Rejuvenation Centre, the health of ‘Gajaveeran’ Neelakandan of Sastamkotta Dharmashatha temple remains the same. The elephant was sent to the rehabilitation centre for therapy on July 15 following a High Court order. Vets claim that although the external injuries that the elephant sustained has healed to an extent, there is not much progress in his overall health.

Neelakandan has been suffering from illness for 6 years now. Although he is provided proper diet and medication, he is still unable to move around freely. Neelakandan needs the support of its trunk to even stand up properly.

The High Court on June 24 had ordered the elephant to be sent for expert therapy, based on the petition given by elephant lovers of the state. As a result, Neelakandan was taken to Kottur Rehabilitation centre.
