No groupism behind denial of seat for Kummanam Rajasekharan: K. Surendran
Pathanamthitta: BJP state general secretary and Konni NDA candidate K. Surendran dismissed allegations that groupism was the reason why Kummanam Rajasekharan was denied seat in the assembly polls.
Surendran was speaking to Mathrubhumi News when he came to submit his nomination papers in Konni. “Kummanam Rajasekharan’s name was unanimously suggested in the list of probable candidates. But there are situations in Vattiyoorkavu that favoured a young candidate,” he said.
Stating that NDA was hoping to taste victory in Konni bypoll, Surendran said it would be a close contest. “During the Konni bypoll, I will get the same reception that I received from Pathanamthitta district during the Lok Sabha polls. All three fronts had received more or less the same number of votes in Konni. The situation is favourable for us,” Surendran added.
Surendran alleged that NDA’s defeat was because people were misled by other parties. “Campaigns which stated that Narendra Modi will not become the prime minister was a major setback for NDA. But after the LS polls, people are of the opinion that they should vote for BJP. Hence the situation is in our favour. In the present context, NDA’s victory will be better for the development of Konni,” the BJP candidate said.
