No entry for devotees in Guruvayur temple from Saturday: Kadakampally Surendran
Thiruvananthapuram: Devaswom Minister Kadakampally Surendran informed that devotees will not be allowed to enter Guruvayur temple from Saturday.
The Minister said that the administrative committee of the temple informed the government of their decision and that the government approved the same.
The decision to revoke lockdown relaxation in Thrissur was taken after the number COVID-19 cases in the district started rising. However, the weddings scheduled to take place on Saturday can be conducted.
The respective administrative committees of temples in the state can decide on whether to let devotees enter the temple or not. The darsan was arranged in Guruvayur temple as per coronavirus guidelines. However, the committee was forced to reverse the decision due to the growing anxiety about the pandemic in the region.
Except for tomorrow, none of the weddings scheduled earlier will be conducted inside the temple. The temple authorities have informed the relatives concerned through email and telephones. The Minister also added that all the rituals will continue to be practiced as it was done during the lockdown period.
