No enmity towards Veerendrakumar: Pinarayi
Thiruvananthapuram: CPM leader Pinarayi Vijayan has said that he has no enmity towards M P Veerendrakumar. There are political differences, but we share good personal relation, he added. Pinarayi released Veerendrakumar's book, 'Irul Parakkunna Kalam'.
"Socialists belong to the Left front. People want to see socialists on that side. What needs to be corrected, should be corrected. What needs to be reconsidered, should be reconsidered. It's important to take a decision that meets the expectations of the people," the CPM leader said on the occasion. He added that he respected the writings of Veerendrakumar.
"Socialists and communists have agreed and disagreed on various things. When Veerendrakumar left the LDF and joined the UDF, we had criticised him. But that is no barrier for fighting together in the future," Pinarayi said, and added that he had given all due respect to Veerendrakumar.
"It is a misconception that comrade M P Veerendrakumar and I are enemies, and I am releasing the book of my enemy. That doesn't mean that I have no differences with him. But the differences are not personal, they are political. That is why we represent two parties. There are areas where we disagree with each other.
"This book reflects the problems being faced by our country and people. Veerendrakumar is clearly telling us how darkness is gripping us," Pinarayi said.
He also recalled sharing a prison cell with Veerendrakumar during the Emergency. It is after several years that both the leaders are sharing the dais.
