No-confidence motion: A. K. Balan slams Opposition; says its approach is anti-national
Palakkad: Law Minister A. K. Balan stated that it was inappropriate of the Opposition to introduce a no-confidence motion against the government during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Minister said that nothing was going to happen with the no-confidence motion. “LDF has two third majority in the Assembly. It is a suicidal decision from the Opposition,” he added.
The mentality of the Opposition is not right. There are many people in the Assembly who are above the age of 70. Without the no-confidence motion, Assembly procedures would have been completed faster. It is pathetic that the Opposition does not realise the seriousness of the situation. This is not the way to behave when we are fighting a common enemy. In fact, the Opposition’s approach is anti-national, the Minister said.
There is still time to introduce a no-confidence motion. The Opposition has to go back on the decision. LDF can face any move by the Opposition. It is not healthy to create division among the public in this situation, he said
A. K. Balan also urged the Opposition to cooperate with the government in the time of crisis.
He also accused that the Opposition was not willing to provide any help. “They are focused on destroying the image of the Chief Minister. The Opposition had a similar attitude during Okhi, Nipah, floods and other tragedies,” he accused.
A. K. Balan alleged that the Opposition was unable to intervene properly in any issue.
