Kerala High Court

Thrissur: The Kerala High Court has asked the state government to take strict action against those who violate the traffic rules. Representing the government, the State Transport Commissioner S Sreejith appeared before the HC here on Friday after the court took a suo motu case against Vadakkencherry bus accident. The court asked the government to implement lane traffic system immediately and never compromise with any traffic rule violators.
“Reckless driving is a serious matter of concern. Immediate action must be taken to prevent deaths due to road accidents. Traffic rules are violated in Kerala. A WhatsApp number should be provided to the public for reporting on traffic rule violations,” directed the court.

“ People have no idea about lane traffic system. Kerala should implement it soon. It will be a new beginning,” pointed out the court.

The court also asked the transport commissioner to take action against over-speeding buses on the Shoranur-Palakkad-Kunnamkulam route.

The transport commissioner informed the court that MVD took action against 96 buses on Friday. He added that the department managed to reduce the number of road accidents in the last 7 months.
